Whatever Happened to “An Ounce of Prevention is Worth a Pound of Cure” – Benjamin Franklin

Did you know that 42% of the adult American population are obese, but in the African American community, it’s closer to 49.6%. In other words, almost one out of every two African American adults are clinically obese, meaning they have a body mass index of 30% or higher. Obesity is a risk factor for health-related issues such as diabetes, cardiovascular disease, and some forms of cancer. What’s worse, is that the obesity epidemic is affecting our children at an alarming rate. To address this growing concern, children are being prescribed medications to deal with diabetes, high blood pressure and heart disease, all preventable diseases, and these medications have side effects. Are we sacrificing our children to the pharmaceutical industry?

Did you know that 75% of the media’s revenue comes from the pharmaceutical industry? There was a time over 25, 30 years ago, when drug manufacturers were not allowed to advertise on TV. It’s like the fox guarding the hen house. Whatever happened to that old cliché by Benjamin Franklin who said that “an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.”

Another interesting fact is that the weight loss industry is worth over $200 billion dollars today and by 2027 it is projected to be worth $295 billion dollars. With all that money being spent on weight loss gadgets and products, you would think obesity would have been eradicated by now. Instead, it’s quite the opposite, obesity rates are climbing towards an all-time high and it’s business as usual.

What if I told you there is a way for you and your family to get your health back on track and all it will take is one hour per day, would you be interested? What if I told you the program only lasts for six weeks and you can do it in the comfort of your home, would that interest you? Well, you can. The program is called Six Weeks to Family Fitness, it’s affordable and best of all, it works, but don’t take my word for it, listen to what others have to say about the program: https://youtu.be/iBwNnDfvUvg.

Whether you are a full-grown adult or a child, there are steps you can take to lose weight, reduce chronic disease and get your health back on track in six weeks or less. The best investment you can make is in your health, and you don’t have to go on this journey alone, you can become part of a community of like-minded people who are also determined to lose weight and improve their health. Once you have the right mental attitude, the next step is to know your why! Once we can identify why it is so important to you, we can then take the necessary steps to help you to achieve your fitness goals.

Will exercise help you to lose weight? Yes! Will proper nutrition help you to lose weight, again, yes! But it’s much more than that, it’s how you choose to incorporate exercise and nutrition into your everyday schedule that makes the difference. The methods I recommend work if you are willing to put in the work.
