Life is full of Experiences

Life is full of experiences.  Some of these experiences made you laugh, some made you cry, but they all contributed to the man or woman you are today.  Do you ever reflect on the people you’ve met along this journey we call life?

It is said that people come into your life to teach you a lesson.  Some of these lessons, I think I rather have done without, but they were lessons just the same. Do you remember the conversations that were said by the many people in your life? I don’t, but I do remember how these people made me feel. I can’t tell you exactly what was said by my mother or father to me all those years before they passed, but I can tell you they made me feel loved.  There were nine of us at home, but when I think back, all I feel is the love they shared.

The Man in the Mirror

As I reflect on Maya Angelou’s words, I think about my life.  What am I doing to make a positive impact on another human being’s life?  Is it all about me, or am I putting a smile on someone else’s face?  What will my children, my friends, or even my co-workers think of me when they look back at the moments we’ve shared?  I am reminded of the song by Michael Jackson, “Man in the Mirror”  It’s a song about self-reflection.  Maybe it’s time for all of us to do a little self-reflection.

It’s easy to say, “who cares what others think”, but that’s just it.  Maybe we should care.  And maybe, just maybe that’s what this life is all about, caring for others.  In the big scheme of things, maybe “we are our brothers and sisters keeper”.
